As AI becomes more integrated into teaching and learning, Mizzou is establishing clear expectations for its use in the classroom. The MU Faculty Council on University Policy and the Graduate Faculty Senate have approved several policies to help faculty navigate the use of AI in instruction and assessment.
AI Syllabus Statement
All instructors must adopt an AI policy for their course and state it explicitly in their syllabus.
AI Use Scale Policy
MU educators teaching undergraduate courses are responsible for labeling graded assignments and assessments with a level (0-3) from the MU Student AI Use Scale.
AI Grading and Feedback Policy
MU educators are solely responsible for determining grades per assignment and assessment without the use of AI.
AI Detection Tools Policy
AI detection software reports should not be the sole evidence used for reporting students or misconduct proceedings.
AI Policy for Graduate Education
Academic units will create policies related to the use of AI that are relevant for their disciplines in different areas of graduate education.
